How do I make this wonderful Piggy Bank?
I purchased a machine many years ago which was made by a Company called EMCO and this machine came with a very rare Piggy Bank mold intended for use in schools and vocational centers where students could learn how to make plastic Rotationally Molded items. Since that time I have purchased several molds for this machine.
I have also successfully developed a method for combining colors into the mold to create unusual and pretty plastic colors. The one I am most proud of is what I call "Chickenpox" in which the pig looks like it is blushing and has chicken pox. The color is slighty glittery and shimmers in the light. The "chickenpox" effect is due to the coloring and glitter and base color white being very very slightly blotchy which gives a unique and pretty color effect. Every batch of Piggy Banks come out very slightly unique. No two are exactly alike but are very very similar. The blotchy effect is cute and seems to be enhanced where there are curved areas such as rounded cheeks etc where more plastic flows and this gives a "rosey cheeks" and plump areas are pinker etc. Please keep in mind that there is a certain "randomness" in which the color flows - you get what you get and every Piggy Bank is unique in color "chickenpox-ness"
What I can control is how much color and glitter I add - and the buyer CAN request more or less or gradiants etc which affects the color effects.
The plastic is LDPE which stands for Low Density PolyEthylene
See how I have underlined the parts of the word that actually spells LDPE.
This is a similar plastic to that used in common household plastics. The plastic that I use starts out as very very very fine plastic granules of white LDPE and I mix some special glitter and coloring and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE until the plastic powder and color and glitter is mixed. Then this customized powder is poured into the mold.
YOU KNOW WHAT? The Pre-Pig plastic powder sure does take up a large volume. It is amazing how much plastic powder actually goes into the mold - only to end up hollow!
Well why do I use so much plastic powder in making this wonderful Dr Virago Pete's Plastic Piggy Bank? Because - I want the walls of this bank to be nice and tough and durable.
What does the plastic feel like?
A mustard jar, A weedtrimmer gastank, a milkjug (but much thicker), etc. Now those things are made of a different type of plastic - but that is what it feels like to the touch. It is tough and stiff but you can push in on it a little.
It is not a fragile plastic and even though I wouldn't say it is indestructible (everything is destructible in the wrong hands) It is something that needs no special care.
Everything you can do with a mustard jar ... you can do with this piggy bank.
Can you drop a mustard jar? Yes.
Can you press on a mustard jar without cracking? Yes
Can you cut a mustard jar with a utility knife? yes
Can you paint a mustard jar? Yes and No - but with the right paints - due to not all paints stick to all plastics.
Im not going to offer any warranty or guaranty for breaking or damage or inability of paint to stick. if you plan on painting this then
plan on experimenting with which paints will or wont stick to it.
If you are a creative person, you can create your own paints, stickers, neck ribbons, bow ties, 3d printed accessories ... but that is ENTIRELY up to the buyer to do whatever you can imagine or create to customize.
HOWEVER nothing else is included...

If you plan on using this for food use (no) please note that I am not certifying for food use. If you plan on using for fuel storage (no) please note that I am not certifying it for fuel. If you do weird stuff (no) with this Piggy Bank then that is 100% your fault. I ONLY am selling a piggy bank which has no loose parts and is not swallowable by children.
